Valentines at the Statehouse

Valentines at the StatehouseWith clear skies and a temp a bit above normal, everything was set for the hundreds of individuals with disabilities, their support teams, service organizations and advocates to spend Feb. 12 celebrating Valentines at the Statehouse.

Organized by The Arc of Indiana and Self Advocates of Indiana, this annual tradition draws people from across the state to connect with their legislators and elected officials, thanking them for “Having a Heart for The Arc.”

As The Arc of Greater Indianapolis serving Marion and Hamilton counties, Noble always organizes several individuals and staff to participate.

This year, Phillip, Angie, David and Matt were joined by staff members Kim, Tara, Kiernan and Rita in distributing valentines to the dozens of elected officials who represent various parts of Central Indiana.

Afterward, the group went up to the Indiana House gallery to see Rep. Ed Clere recognized with a House resolution honoring him for his many years of legislative work supporting people with disabilities.

We thank our legislators from taking time out of their busy schedules to meet with us.

Here are a few pics from these valentine presentations. From the top are Rep. Shackleford, Rep. Garcia Wilburn and Sen. Crider.
